Suburbs would control Lake Michigan water supply under $6B plan (chicagotribune.com) — Northbrook is slated to host a major new Lake Michigan water purification facility under a $6 billion regional project that would shift control of water delivery from Chicago to suburban agencies. The long-term plan, targeting completion in 2041, would run tunnels from a lake intake near Glencoe through Northbrook and around O'Hare, aiming to stabilize rates, improve treatment technology, and boost reliability for dozens of suburbs.
   

5. NSYMCA to Host Free Virtual Program on Supporting Independence for Individuals Living with Alzheimer's (patch.com) — Northbrook's North Suburban YMCA is hosting a free virtual program on September 8 to help caregivers support the independence of loved ones living with Alzheimer's. Led by an Alzheimer's Association expert, the session will cover practical daily-care strategies while preserving dignity, and is open to anyone in Northbrook and surrounding communities with advance registration encouraged.
