Fire Tears Through Mobile Home, Injures 1 In Oak Lawn

A mobile home was gutted by fire, injuring a man, at the Airway Mobile Home Community in Oak Lawn, officials said.

Oak Lawn firefighters and adjacent fire departments quickly extinguished a blaze in a mobile home Thursday evening. One person was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

The first call came in just before 8:30 p.m. in the Airway Mobile Home Community, 9001 S. Cicero Ave. The mobile home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, which sustained heavy damage.

A neighbor told Patch she saw the trailer on fire before firefighters arrived.

“It went up in flames. They went to get the guy,” the neighbor said. He was rushed into an ambulance.”

No other homes were damaged. The Oak Lawn Fire Department remained at the scene late at night. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
