Caught Off Guards To Perform Outdoor Concert Friday At Oak Park Arms

The Oak Park Arms Senior Living Community will host the third installment of its outdoor concert series from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 21, at 408 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park. The concert is open to the public without charge.

The event features live music by local ensemble The Caught Off Guards, a group formed after meeting at an open-mic event at the NAMI drop-in center in Oak Park. The band performs a mix of funk, R&B, soul, blues, and jazz. Band members include Charles Torpe, Carla Taylor, Gary Barkov, Kevin McDermott, Steve Coppola, Sylvester Czaijkowski, Carl Mugavero, and Francesco Forte.

Attendees can listen to the performance in the parking lot of the community, with a contingency plan to move the performance into the Arms' ballroom if rain occurs.

“The previous concerts in our series have been fantastic, and we love having members of the community join us for these events,” said Renee Steingard, director of leasing and resident engagement at the Oak Park Arms. “Our historic ballroom stands ready as a backup venue if rain occurs, ensuring the music continues regardless of the forecast.”

The summer performance schedule began on June 5, followed by a second show on July 17. The series will conclude with a fourth concert on September 18.

Oak Park Arms Senior Living is a rental retirement community that provides senior housing in the form of independent living.
