Orland DMV Moves From Temporary Home To New, Permanent Location In Orland Hills: Village
The location at CTF Illinois will close Thursday, Nov. 5. The new one in Orland Hills will open Monday, Nov. 9.

ORLAND HILLS, IL — The DMV that has been temporarily located inside an Orland Park nonprofit will soon move to its new home in Orland Hills, Village officials said Tuesday.
The Illinois Secretary of State Drivers Facility serving the Orland Park area will relocate from its temporary home at CTF Illinois to the new Orland Hills DMV+ at 9291 159th St. in Orland Hills, the Village said.
The new facility, located next to the Hallmark store in the Walmart plaza, will open Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m.

The location at CTF Illinois opened in September 2025, after the Orland Township board voted in July 2025 to close the Secretary of State office in the space on Ravinia Avenue. Citing safety concerns, parking issues, security issues and cost, Trustee Ken Duffy launched the discussion at the time, laying out more than a dozen issues he had encountered at the facility since the start of his term in May. Ultimately, too, he worried the agency had outgrown its space there.
As residents worried about losing access to the services locally, a local nonprofit "immediately contacted" Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias to offer them office space, the Village said last fall. Giannoulias' office said it signed a one-year, zero-cost lease with the non-profit Communities Transform Futures (CTF) to open the temporary location.

CTF Illinois is an organization that creates pathways toward independence, a higher quality of life, and economic prosperity for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
"In 2025, after the newly elected majority of the Orland Township Board abruptly canceled the Drivers Facility lease agreement, the Secretary of State’s Office had to act quickly to prevent a significant interruption in service for area residents," the Village said in a release.
"CTF Illinois immediately stepped forward and offered temporary office space at no charge, allowing the Drivers Facility to remain in the community while a new location was found. The Village again extends its sincere appreciation to CTF Illinois for responding at a critical moment and helping preserve access for seniors, people with disabilities and other residents who depend on these essential services."
The temporary facility at 18230 Orland Parkway will close permanently on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m. After opening day, regular hours at the Orland Hills location will begin Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. Regular hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The new facility will offer a full range of Secretary of State services, including driver’s license and state IDs, REAL ID, road tests, vehicle registration renewals, license plate renewals and replacement stickers. Services are by appointment only, and appointments can be scheduled at ilsos.gov by selecting “Schedule a DMV Appointment.” License plate stickers and disability parking placards are available on a walk-in basis and do not require an appointment.
The new Orland Hills DMV+ keeps these services close and convenient for Orland Park residents with easy access from 159th Street and nearby shopping, dining and other services, the Village said.
"Keeping these essential services close to home has been our priority from the beginning," Mayor Jim Dodge said. "We are grateful to Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and State Senator Michael E. Hastings for helping secure the new location. Most of all, we thank CTF Illinois for stepping up immediately when the prior site was taken away and giving the Drivers Facility a temporary home at no charge.
"Their generosity ensured that residents, especially seniors and other vulnerable members of our community, did not lose local access to these vital services."
