Palos Hills Women Gets 5 Years For Forging Prescriptions For 251,137 Assorted Opioids (patch.com) — Residents of Palos Hills are learning that 48-year-old local resident Amani Ibrahim has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for her role in a large-scale forged prescription scheme. Prosecutors say she helped illegally obtain more than 250,000 doses of opioids and other controlled substances, and she must forfeit over $200,000 seized from her home after all five co-conspirators were convicted.
   

2. Child Pornography Charges Added For Man Accused Of Drugging And Assaulting Woman He Met At Concert (patch.com) — A Palos Hills man already jailed on felony sexual assault charges is now also facing ten counts of child pornography, with upcoming court dates at the Bridgeview Courthouse. Prosecutors say the alleged assault occurred in a Palos Hills condo after a Chicago concert, and a judge has deemed him a danger to the community.
   

3. Loretta Ann Herm, 89 (southwestregionalpublishing.com) — Local parishioners in Palos Hills are mourning Loretta Ann Herm, a devoted Sacred Heart Church choir member who passed away at 89. Visitation will be held Sunday at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, with a Monday morning Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church and interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, followed by a request for memorial donations to Franciscan Village.
   

4. Illinois Quick Hits: State issues more medical cannabis licenses (hometownregister.com) — A Palos Hills woman has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for using stolen physician information to write fraudulent opioid prescriptions across the Chicago area. The same statewide roundup notes Illinois expanding medical cannabis licenses and highlights a family-friendly Monarch Butterfly Festival in Springfield this weekend.
   

5. Rene Germaine McFadden, 65 (southwestregionalpublishing.com) — Services for longtime community member Rene Germaine McFadden will be held next week at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home on Southwest Highway in Palos Hills, giving local friends and neighbors a chance to pay their respects. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, with a funeral service Wednesday morning and interment at Fairmount Willow Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
