Coleman All Natural Meats will celebrate the grand opening of Woodman’s Food Market in Plainfield, IL (11751 S. Route 59) with a community tailgate on Saturday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free, family-friendly event brings together bold tailgate flavors, hometown school spirit and community giving at Woodman’s new 243,000-square-foot store—approximately the size of four football fields.

Guests can visit the Coleman tailgate area located in the parking lot for grilled samples prepared by Award-winning Chef Lamar Moore, who will serve up Coleman ribs and kielbasa throughout the event. Guests can also enter for a chance to win a Coleman tailgating package and other giveaways while supplies last. Mel Coleman Jr., a fifth-generation Coleman family member will also be on hand to share more about the family brand’s 150-year history.

“We are thrilled to partner with Woodman’s for its Plainfield grand opening and celebrate this milestone alongside the community,” said Mel Coleman Jr. “Woodman’s has been an important partner in bringing Coleman products to consumers across the Midwest, and we’re proud that customers can find our products at Woodman’s stores in the Chicagoland area. We look forward to giving families a chance to try them while enjoying an afternoon of food, fun and local school spirit.”

The event will include a school spirit challenge benefiting booster organizations connected to Plainfield East and Plainfield North high schools. Guests will receive a token to vote for a participating school and the school receiving the most votes will earn $1,000 for its booster organization, while each of the other participating schools will receive $250. School participation may include mascots, cheerleaders, booster representatives or other approved student groups, subject to school confirmation and district requirements.

Coleman All Natural Premium pork products are sourced from American family farms, humanely raised with no antibiotics ever or added hormones and fed an all-vegetarian diet. Coleman ribs and kielbasa are available exclusively at Woodman’s stores throughout greater Chicagoland, offering shoppers versatile, easy-to-prepare options for tailgating, entertaining and everyday meals.

Joliet Area Historical Museum

Something mysterious is happening at the Joliet Area Historical Museum, and the suspects aren't talking.
On Saturday, October 24, kids in grades K–6 throw on their costumes and become junior detectives at STEAM Spooktacular, a free Halloween event for families in the Joliet area, presented by the After the Peanut Foundation.
It's a STEM-tastic, boo-tiful morning of mystery. The fun starts the moment they walk in. Kids chase clues from station to station, getting hands-on with spooky science experiments, creative builds, and puzzles that bring them one step closer to cracking the case.
And no monster mash is complete without a soundtrack. Plainfield School of Rock takes the stage with live music to keep the whole family moving.
And it wouldn't be a party without a soundtrack. Plainfield School of Rock takes the stage with live music to keep the whole family moving.
Costumes are encouraged.

It's Socktober! Throughout the month of October 59 Auto Repair will be collecting NEW sock donations for RichEnDeed. Every donation helps. Why socks? Socks are one of the most requested items, yet least donated items at places like RichEnDeed. Socks have a short lifespan and need to be replaced with a much higher frequency than other clothing items, making them a high value item for donation centers. How can you help? By donating socks! Where can donations be dropped off? At 59 Auto Repair, located on the corner of Renwick and Route 59. The address is 24010 W Renwick Rd Plainfield, IL. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm. Whether you are stopping by for an oil change, picking up your vehicle, or simply driving through the neighborhood, please consider dropping off a pack of new socks in our collection bin. Every single pair helps make a tangible difference right here in our local community!
