Fire Starts In Kitchen At HopScotch & Vine: Plainfield Police
The fire and smoke caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the downtown Plainfield restaurant, fire investigators said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A fire broke out Wednesday at HopScotch & Vine at the corner of Lockport and Des Plaines streets in downtown Plainfield, according to Plainfield first responders.
The Western Will County Communication Center received a 911 call at 11:39 a.m. reporting a fire at the restaurant, 24047 W. Lockport St. Firefighters arrived within four minutes of the call to find an active fire in the kitchen and heavy smoke billowing from the building, according to a news release from the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
Firefighters deployed a hose line to extinguish the fire while other crews helped evacuate and ventilate the building. No injuries were reported, officials said.

"All indications show the sprinkler system played a critical role in stopping this fire from spreading beyond the kitchen," Deputy Chief Mark Reynolds said in a statement. "Because the system activated as designed, firefighters were able to gain control quickly and prevent a much later and more dangerous incident."
A staff member from a nearby restaurant told Patch that crews were removing bridal gowns from White Satin Bridal to save them from smoke damage coming from the nearby business on fire. Dogs from Glitz and Glamour Dog Grooming were dispersed to local vehicles to keep them warm, she said.
