Intoxicated Plainfield Man Threatens To Shoot Staff At McBride's Pub: Joliet PD

The man threatened to physically harm and shoot security staff at McBride's Pub in Plainfield, officials said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — An intoxicated Plainfield man was taken into custody early Sunday after Joliet police said he threatened staff and brandished what appeared to be firearm at McBride's Pub and Grill.

Officers were dispatched at 1:07 a.m. to 7162 Caton Farm Road in Plainfield, where they learned a man had caused a disturbance inside the bar before going to the parking lot and getting into an altercation with others, Joliet police said in a news release.

Police said the man, identified as 37-year-old Nicholas O'Neill, threatened security staff, saying he would physically harm and shoot them with a gun. Witnesses also reported seeing him display what looked like a gun, but police did not find a weapon when searching the area, authorities said.

Police said O'Neill also approached a woman in the parking lot and put both his hands on her shoulders without consent. Security and bystanders intervened and restrained O'Neill until officers arrived and took him into custody without further incident.

O'Neill was charged with disorderly conduct and battery, processed at the Joliet Police Department and later released with a notice to appear in court.
