PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield-area man was taken into custody Monday in connection with a shooting that stemmed from a June domestic dispute in the 24100 block of West Hazelcrest Drive, police said.

The dispute occurred between a resident, their ex-partner and another resident, officials said. The suspect, identified as David R. Mora, 21, hit one of the victims with his car, causing them to fall to the ground, before driving away. Mora returned and fired a gun out of his car's passenger window toward one of the victims, Sgt. Luke Ostreko told Patch.

No one was injured in the shooting, Plainfield police said.

After Mora fled and police spoke to victims and witnesses, officers went to Mora's home in Joliet, where they found him and took him into custody at the Plainfield Police Department.

According to police, investigators used automated license plate readers and information from interviews at Mora's home to locate his vehicle at a farm property in the 10000 block of Caton Farm Road. Officers found the car in an open barn, parked out of sight between a boat and trailer.

  • Aggravated assault, a felony
  • Aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, a felony
