• Storm leaves 10,000-plus homes without power in Danville, topples trees across area, spawns suspected tornado in Hoopeston (news-gazette.com) — Rantoul is dealing with multiple power outages, downed trees and damaged power poles after a powerful storm swept through Thursday night, with village electric crews working to restore service and clear roads. The same system knocked out power to more than 10,000 homes in Danville, spawned a suspected tornado in Hoopeston, and caused significant tree and line damage in Champaign, Farmer City and other nearby communities.

• PBT IL Open: Takeaways (prepbaseballreport.com) — Youth baseball players from across the region just wrapped up the PBT IL Open at the Rantoul Family Sports Complex, with several Rantoul Rush standouts highlighted for strong performances on the mound and at the plate. The three-day event brought more than 20 teams to town, showcasing up-and-coming talent from central Illinois and giving local players a chance to shine on their home fields.
