• Watch out for 'The Odyssey' movie streaming scams (rrstar.com) — Rockford's Better Business Bureau office is warning residents about fake streaming sites claiming to offer Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" for free, but instead harvesting credit card details or installing malware. Locals are urged to avoid entering payment information on unfamiliar movie sites, skip downloading ".exe" files, and use trusted services to watch big new releases safely.
   

• Savant rebrands tax arm, adds two Illinois firms (accountingtoday.com) — A Rockford-based accounting firm, Summit CPA, has been acquired as part of Savant Wealth Management's rebranded Savant Accounting & Business Advisory arm. The deal, effective August 31, folds Summit into a 140-person advisory team offering expanded tax, accounting, and business-planning services to Illinois clients, including local business owners.
   

• Another blockbuster NIC-10 game is set between Guilford and Hononegah (mystateline.com) — Friday's NIC-10 showdown between Guilford and Hononegah will play out in Rockford, with Guilford chasing its first conference title since 1982 and Hononegah looking to rebound from a heartbreaking loss. If you can't make it to the Rockford game, FOX 39's "Overtime" will carry full coverage and replays online all weekend.
