• What to know ahead of Rockford's Labor Day parade and picnic (wifr.com) — Rockford's Labor Day parade steps off at 10 a.m. today on 7th Street, with street closures starting at 8 a.m. and cars on the route subject to towing. Afterward, you can head to the Rockford City Market Pavilion for the Labor Day picnic and car show, while remembering that city garbage pickup will run one day late this week.
