Romeoville’s Planning & Zoning Commission Welcomes Two New Student Members

One from Romeoville HS, one from Plainfield East HS

Emely Espinoza from Romeoville High School and Isabella Trotter from Plainfield East High School both serve on Romeoville’s Planning and Zoning Commission as student members. This year is the first time the Village has had a student from both high schools on the commission at the same time!

“It’s always promising to see high school students take an interest in what is happening in their community,” said Mayor Noak. “Being a part of this commission will be a great opportunity to see how government works and to share their perspective on projects coming to our community.”

Student members participate like other members of the commission by asking questions and sharing their insights regarding new developments. Romeoville was one of the earliest communities in Illinois to add student member positions. Since 2013 the mayor has been appointing student members to the commission for one year terms.
