• Supporters of Savoy nursing-home project pack public hearing (news-gazette.com) — A major 120-bed nursing home called The Cottages is being proposed for Savoy, with strong backing from local advocates, health professionals, and state lawmakers who packed a recent public hearing at the Savoy Municipal Building. Supporters say Champaign County’s severe shortage and low quality of skilled-nursing beds make this $26.6 million project urgently needed. State review decisions in July could clear the way for construction to start this fall.
