Deborah A. Couch (nee McCord), a loving and devoted mother, Gigi, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, surrounded by the care and deep love of her family.

She was born on August 20, 1956, in Joliet, Illinois, to Hugh McCord and Gloria Rollert (nee Kufner).

Deborah dedicated 26 years of her life to St. Joseph Medical Center, where she worked as a Vascular Technician. Her long tenure was a testament to the loyalty and commitment she had to her workplace and the people she worked with. She took great pride in her profession and remained devoted to St. Joseph throughout the many years she spent there. Deborah valued the relationships she built with her coworkers and the opportunity to help others through her work. Her dedication was more than simply a career—it was a meaningful part of her life, and she gave her time, knowledge, and care wholeheartedly.

Above all else, Deborah treasured her family. She was a guiding presence in their lives—a dependable source of affection, encouragement, comfort, and unconditional support and love. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy and brought her immense happiness. She valued every moment they spent together and filled their lives with memories that will remain with them always.

Deborah had a generous nature and found great delight in giving gifts to those around her. She especially anticipated the holidays, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. She enjoyed the excitement of the season, the familiar traditions they shared, and, most importantly, the opportunity to gather with family she held dear. Her considerate nature had a way of making others feel appreciated and remembered, while her forgiving heart reflected the compassion and grace that came so naturally to her.

One of Deborah’s most distinctive qualities was her quiet resilience and unwavering strength. She possessed a gentle nature coupled with a determined spirit, meeting life’s challenges with dignity, courage, and grace. Her fortitude, warmth, and perseverance were defining qualities that her family will continue to admire.

Deborah’s presence was an extraordinary blessing to her children and grandchildren. They will always hold close the laughter, stories, traditions, and countless experiences they shared with her. Although her passing leaves a profound void in their lives, they find solace in knowing that her Christian faith has brought her home to the Lord. They take comfort in the belief that this separation is not a final farewell, but that one day they will be reunited again.

Deborah is survived by her children, Trina (Scott) Parker and Jeffrey Couch Jr.; grandchildren, Luke, Jack, Reese, and Cole Parker, and Keira and Jake Couch; sisters, Linda (Tony) Pavnica, Sharon (Mike) Meadows, and Michelle (Mike) Loughran; nieces and nephews, Heather Pavnica, Anthony Pavnica, Michaela Pardo, and Madisen Loughran; adoring great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh McCord and Gloria Rollert (nee Kufner); her beloved grandmother, Lubica Kufner; her brother, Hugh “Sonny” McCord Jr.; and her nephew, Brian Pavnica.

She will be profoundly missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Her resilience, generosity, compassion, devotion to family, and gentle spirit will continue through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, coworkers, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Funeral Services for Deborah A. Couch will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
