Over the next nine months, the village will study Skokie's commercial corridors, tourism assets, and innovation ecosystem while gathering extensive community feedback through interviews, focus groups, and a forthcoming survey to shape a practical five-year action plan.
   

• Skokie makes changes to short-term rentals; lowering fees and required length of stay (chicagotribune.com) — Skokie trustees just voted to ease parts of the village's short-term rental pilot program, lowering costs and loosening rules for owner-hosted Airbnb and VRBO stays while promising tougher enforcement on unlicensed listings. If you're considering renting out your home, the changes could make participation more affordable, but officials are still debating fairness to early adopters and how to verify that hosts actually stay on-site.
   

• Man Killed In Skokie Had Criminal Record: Report (patch.com) — A man shot late last month near Howard Street and McCormick Boulevard in Skokie has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as 31-year-old Rami Jalal Naisan. Police say he suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at a local hospital, and records cited in another outlet note he previously pleaded guilty in a separate Evanston home invasion case.
