• Balanced offense propels SJ-O baseball to state (news-gazette.com) — St. Joseph baseball fans have a big weekend ahead as the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans head to Illinois Field in Champaign for the Class 2A state semifinals Friday night, just 15 miles from home. Powered by a deep, senior-heavy lineup averaging 8.6 runs per game, SJ-O is chasing the program’s first-ever state title and a historic county championship.
   

• Volo aiming to get high-speed internet to all of rural Champaign County over next 5 years (news-gazette.com) — Rural residents around St. Joseph could see much better internet within five years as a $48.4 million project lays 584 miles of fiber across Champaign County. Provider Volo is asking landowners, especially in rural areas, to contact them about easements and is hosting a July 14 info event at the Community Sports Complex in St. Joseph to explain what’s coming.
