St. Charles Lottery Ticket Wins $550K Lucky Day Lotto Jackpot

Winning ticket was sold at a Shell station on W. Main Street during Labor Day weekend.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A Lucky Day Lotto ticket purchased at a St. Charles gas station won a $550,000 jackpot over Labor Day weekend, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The winning ticket matched all five numbers — 8-9-15-33-38 — in Friday’s midday drawing. The ticket was purchased at the Shell gas station at 307 W. Main St. in St. Charles, according to a news release from the Illinois Lottery.

The St. Charles winner was one of three Lucky Day Lotto jackpot winners in Illinois over the Labor Day weekend. Together, the winning tickets accounted for more than $850,000 in jackpot prizes, lottery officials said.

The St. Charles retailer will receive a $5,500 bonus, equal to 1% of the prize amount.

An online player won a $100,000 jackpot in Friday's evening drawing after matching all five numbers — 3-12-19-32-35 — and also won $17 in secondary prizes on the same ticket.

A ticket purchased at Tony's Fresh Market at 2500 N. Central Ave. in Chicago won Sunday's midday jackpot of $200,000 by matching 1-4-20-24-27. The ticket also won $2 in secondary prizes. Tony's Fresh Market will receive a $2,000 retailer bonus.

So far this year, more than 8 million winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold across Illinois, with players claiming more than $47 million in prizes.

Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prizes. The Illinois Lottery advises winners to sign the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim the prize.
