• Troy City Council votes to retain Hancock's services as contractor for 12 months (timestribunenews.com) — Troy residents will see former public works director Robert Hancock stay on as an independent contractor for a year, helping guide his successor while the city covers health insurance for him and his wife. The council also backed a new TIF-supported salon downtown, summer interns to digitize old city records, and engineering work for a shared-use path along Troy-O’Fallon Road.

• Larry Gene Lambird, 86 (effinghamradio.com) — Family and friends are mourning 86-year-old Larry Gene Lambird, whose daughters Jenny Glover and Christine Brutcher live in Troy. A devoted railroad worker, outdoorsman, car enthusiast, and family man, he leaves behind his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family, with services set for June 16 in Kinmundy and burial in Farina.

• Troy City Council shifts gears on new dump truck (timestribunenews.com) — Troy’s City Council has reversed course on a previously approved dump truck purchase for the public works department after a pricing error surfaced. The city will now buy a newer 2027 Ford F-550 from Weber Ford for about $126,700, with delivery expected in six to nine months.
