Vernon & Lisbon (mvlsun.com) — Union Pacific’s restored ‘Big Boy’ steam locomotive recently drew big crowds in Mount Vernon and Lisbon, Iowa, as it passed through on a national tour. After Iowa stops and Illinois waypoints like Sterling and Rochelle, the train continued on to an overnight stay at Union Pacific’s West Chicago terminal, putting the city on this historic route.
