• Police Cameras Prompt Western Springs Residents' Concerns (patch.com) — Western Springs residents are raising sharp privacy concerns after the village installed six Motorola license plate-reading cameras that have been operating since July 2025. Lyons Township High School students urged officials to reconsider how data is controlled and shared, while village leaders promised to reexamine the contract and emphasized the cameras' role in solving crimes and locating missing people.
   

• Mystery Surrounds Western Springs Shopping Center's Address (patch.com) — Residents may be surprised to learn that Garden Market Shopping Center's long-used Gilbert Avenue address doesn't match its actual location just south of 47th Street in Western Springs, where the road is called Willow Springs Road. Village staff and the Western Springs Historical Society are digging through old records and ads to understand why the center's address has shifted among Gilbert, Willow Springs, and even 47th Street over the decades.
   

• Cook County–47th Street from County Line Road to East Avenue (illinois.gov) — State transportation officials have launched a major study to improve 47th Street between County Line Road and East Avenue, directly affecting drivers and residents in Western Springs, Hinsdale, and La Grange. The project will explore safety and traffic-flow upgrades and potential community and environmental impacts, and while it's not yet funded, it's being prioritized for future consideration with ongoing public input opportunities.
