1. Fire Prevention Bureau Provides Many Services For Community (illinois.gov) — Westmont's Fire Prevention Bureau is enforcing fire codes, investigating fires, and completing more than 3,400 safety inspections a year across local homes, businesses, and events. The bureau also leads public education, car seat checks, smoke alarm initiatives, and CPR training, giving residents multiple ways to improve safety at home and work.
   

2. Village Prepares To Kick Off New Comprehensive Plan (illinois.gov) — Westmont is kicking off a major update to its Comprehensive Plan, along with a Downtown Streetscapes Master Plan and Downtown Parking Study that will shape growth and downtown life for the next decade or more. Residents, businesses, and community groups will be invited to share input through meetings, surveys, and a project website.
   

3. Hinsdale Man Kisses Someone Without Consent: Police (fiorreports.com) — Police say a man from Hinsdale was charged with battery after allegedly kissing someone without consent at a business on South Cass Avenue in Westmont. The incident happened Sunday evening, and the man was released on his own recognizance while the case proceeds.
   

4. Deuter-backed Measure Modernizing Newborn Screening Signed into Law (ilhousedems.com) — Westmont residents may be interested that a new Illinois law, announced from Westmont, updates how the state reviews conditions included in newborn disease screening. Backed by Rep. Marti Deuter, the measure keeps screenings current with FDA-approved treatments while leaving final decisions to the Illinois Department of Public Health, aiming for earlier detection and better outcomes for families statewide.
