Summer Reading Begins May 28 at Wheaton Public Library

Wheaton Public Library’s 2026 Summer Reading Challenge: Plant a Seed, Read begins May 28! The challenge is open to all ages: Youth (birth to 5th grade), Teens (6th to 12th grade) and Adults (18 years and older), and will run from Thursday, May 28 – Friday, July 31. No library card required to participate. After registering for the program, participants can pick up a free Summer Reading t-shirt beginning May 28 at the Youth, Teen, or Adult Service Desks. Available while supplies last.

Starting Thursday, May 28, participants can begin to earn points through reading and completing missions. Adult, teen, and youth can win prizes after earning 500 and 1,000 points. After earning 1,000 points, participants will earn entry into a grand prize drawing. Additionally, adults and teens will have the chance to win prizes through weekly drawings.

All are welcome to celebrate the start of this year’s challenge from 5–7 pm on Thursday, May 28 during WPL’s Summer Reading Kick-off! The event will feature free treats from Kona Ice (while supplies last), face painting, and a performance by the 90s/2000s cover band, The Student Body. No registration required to attend!
