Police say the system aids serious criminal investigations, while the village stresses strict privacy safeguards, limited data sharing, and that cameras are not used for traffic or reproductive health enforcement.
   

• Police Reports: Work trailer stolen, retail thefts and car burglaries (therecordnorthshore.org) — Recent Wilmette police reports detail several thefts, including a stolen car, package, bicycle, store merchandise, and a landscape-equipment trailer, mostly between Aug. 18-21. The roundup also highlights burglaries and thefts in nearby towns like Skokie, Highland Park and Northfield, giving residents a clear snapshot of current crime patterns around the North Shore.
