• Wilmington school officials thank Durbin for federal Impact Aid support (shawlocal.com) — Wilmington School District 209-U leaders recently went to Washington, D.C., to thank Sen. Dick Durbin for helping secure nearly $2 million a year in federal Impact Aid that supports Wilmington schools. Because about 28.5% of district land is tax-exempt federal property, this funding fills a crucial budget gap, and local officials plan to keep lobbying Illinois’ congressional delegation as Durbin retires.
