1. 2026-05-20 The Republic 60160471 (therepublic.com) — Residents should know that Bartholomew Superior Court has opened the estate of Ruth I. Reece, with a personal representative appointed on April 23 in Columbus. Anyone with a claim against the estate must file with the court clerk within the stated legal deadlines or risk being permanently barred.

2. Columbus holds grand opening for new public works facility (1010wcsi.com) — Columbus has opened a much larger, $13.7 million Public Works facility on Arcadia Drive, aimed at improving everything from street repairs to trash, recycling, and snow removal. The 75,000-square-foot building replaces cramped Mapleton Street garages and is designed to boost efficiency while better supporting the city crews who keep Columbus running year-round.

3. Long-term JNET investigation leads to drug raid, Two arrested on cocaine charges in Columbus (wbiw.com) — A joint narcotics task force raided a Woodleigh Court home in Columbus, seizing more than 50 grams of cocaine, cash, and a loaded gun and arresting two local residents. JNET, which includes Columbus Police, says the investigation into area drug networks is ongoing and is asking residents to report suspicious activity to the sheriff’s tip line.

4. CPD welcomes Jennings County grad as new officer (mojo1029.com) — A new face is joining the Columbus Police Department as Officer Colton Ross, a Jennings County graduate and IU Columbus criminal justice alum, is sworn in by Mayor Mary Ferdon. Already a certified officer through the Indiana University Police Academy, he’ll move straight into training with CPD instructors before beginning field work on Columbus streets.
