• Champion abatements suspension upheld (wzbd.com) — Decatur City Council has unanimously upheld a one-year suspension of Champion Homes’ real estate and personal property tax abatements after the company fell far short of its promised job and wage projections. Company leaders apologized and said hiring has recently improved, but council members stressed fairness to other businesses and the importance of meeting deadlines. Champion can reapply for abatements next year.
