1. Vanderburgh chooses 13 residents for new Data Center Research Committee (wnin.org) — Vanderburgh County has created a 13-member Data Center Research Committee and paused new data center permits through 2026, with Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry's appointee representing the city. Members include Evansville Climate Collaborative Director Lauren Lynch and experts in safety, zoning, engineering, and water, who will study how other communities handle data centers. The committee's kickoff meeting is set for September 2.
   

2. Next Block-by-Block Cleanup set for 9/11 (wnin.org) — Evansville's next Block-by-Block neighborhood cleanup is set for Friday, September 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Glenwood/Culver area, tied to United Way's Day of Caring and the 25th 9/11 anniversary. City officials say volunteers have already removed more than 20,000 tons of trash since 2024, and residents can sign up now at evansvillegov.org/block to help spruce up another neighborhood.
   

3. EPD Launches Drone Response Progeram (wnin.org) — Evansville Police have officially launched a Drone as First Responder program, sending drones within seconds of 911 calls to give officers a live view of emergencies. The fleet includes an indoor-capable drone and a weatherproof docking station at the Civic Center, aiming to improve safety and decision-making at scenes across the city.
   

4. 14 NEWS EXCLUSIVE: Evansville man cleared of battery charges against police during seizure (14news.com) — An Evansville man whose medical emergency led to a crash and arrest has now had felony battery charges against police dropped, after doctors determined he was having a seizure. Bodycam footage, a confirmed use-of-force strike, and the family's concerns about police response are prompting calls for changes in Evansville Police Department protocols, while the family searches for legal representation and works to rebuild financially.
   

5. EVSC 2027 Graduation Dates and Times Announced (my1053wjlt.com) — Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has set its 2027 graduation dates and times for all eight high schools, spreading ceremonies across several evenings in late May. Families can now plan to attend multiple commencements as seniors from North, Central, Reitz, Bosse, Harrison, New Tech, AIS, and Hoosier Digital Academy celebrate their milestones.
