The effort focuses on improving infrastructure, training local businesses, and promoting universal design so attractions, hotels, restaurants, and events are more inclusive across Fort Wayne and Allen County.

Fort Wayne approves $8.1M bond financing for Villages of Arneo development (wane.com) — Fort Wayne’s Economic Development Commission has approved more than $8 million in bond financing to keep the large Villages of Arneo project moving along North Clinton Street. The mixed-use development will bring new apartments, townhomes, retail, green space, and entertainment like Back 9 Golf, with construction on key pieces starting as early as this summer and more additions possible by 2027.

Fort Wayne Zoo details opening day festivities, new additions for 2026 season (21alivenews.com) — Fort Wayne families can start planning their zoo trips now, with the Fort Wayne Zoo opening for the 2026 season on Friday, April 24 and operating daily through October 31. Opening day features music and a ribbon-cutting, plus new animals like baby orangutan Raya, a harbor seal, and more. Visitors can also look forward to Fun Fridays with extended hours and a new electric train.

April 16: YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne announces new offices and future branch coming to the Summit campus (fwbusiness.com) — The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is moving its leadership offices to a renovated Phillips Center on West Rudisill and creating the new Turpin Family YMCA branch next door. Together, these projects will expand wellness programs, childcare, and community outreach in the 46807 area, with renovations starting this year and an anticipated branch opening in early 2027.

Turnstone celebrates completion of $1.4M renovation, hires local artist for mural (21alivenews.com) — Turnstone, a longtime Fort Wayne nonprofit serving people with disabilities, has finished a two-year, $1.4 million renovation that expands access to its programs and services. Fresh interiors, added office space, and a massive hallway mural by local artist Chris Catalogna are all aimed at making the Kimbrough Early Learning Center more welcoming and inclusive for local families.
