• Greenwood schools start new year with expanded STEM programs (wishtv.com) — Greenwood Community School Corporation has kicked off the new year with expanded after-school STEM programs for grades three through eight, funded by state and Project Lead the Way grants. Superintendent Terry Terhune says a district-wide professional development day brought all staff together, and he’s urging Greenwood parents to stay closely involved through volunteering and deeper conversations about what their kids are learning. 
• Roger Whisman (wzbd.com) — Greenwood readers may know the family of Roger Alan Whisman, a 78-year-old Decatur resident and U.S. Army veteran whose son lives in Greenwood. Whisman, a former truck driver and passionate auctioneer, passed away August 3 and is remembered by his wife, children, stepchildren, and many grandchildren; he requested no services be held.
