• 15 Recognized with Hospitality Award (greatnews.life) — Several Hammond hospitality workers were just honored among 15 regional winners at the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority's annual R.O.S.E. and R.I.S.E. awards, including staff from the Ramada by Wyndham Hammond, Horseshoe Casino, and Gibson Woods Nature Preserve. The program spotlights front-line and managerial employees who go above and beyond for guests, and nominations are already open for the 2027 awards. 
• Two Hammond men arrested after high-speed chase from Indiana to Illinois (wishtv.com) — Two Hammond residents face multiple felony charges after allegedly leading Indiana State Police on a 100-mph chase from I-80 near Kennedy Avenue into Illinois, ramming a trooper's car along the way. The pursuit ended on I-94 near 159th Street, where officers recovered two guns and arrested the pair, who are now jailed in Cook County awaiting extradition to Indiana.
• Cedar Lake Woman Tanya Januszewski Sentenced in Federal Court (news-usa.today) — A Cedar Lake woman has been sentenced in Hammond's federal court on wire fraud charges, closing a notable white-collar case for Northwest Indiana. Prosecutors say such Hammond-based federal prosecutions are key to deterring financial schemes that can quietly drain local economies and undermine trust in area businesses and institutions.
