The gunfire erupted Friday at a home on North Fleming Avenue as officers served a high-risk warrant, damaging nearby vehicles and homes and alarming neighbors, while officials highlight ongoing concerns about repeat violent offenders.
   

2. Gleaners' north side event helps flooding victims (wthr.com) — Flooded north side Indianapolis neighborhoods received a major boost Monday as Gleaners Food Bank volunteers distributed food and hygiene kits to about 600 displaced households. The pop-up event focused on residents cut off from their homes or grocery stores, aiming to ease both immediate hunger and the added strain flooding brings to already food-insecure families.
   

3. Burnin' Up in Indy: Jonas Brothers announce October stop at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (wishtv.com) — Indianapolis fans will get a chance to see the Jonas Brothers live when their "Burning Up Tour All Over Again" hits Gainbridge Fieldhouse on October 15. With Magnus Ferrell and Deleasa as special guests, tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday morning, with multiple presales running through Ticketmaster and Spotify for eligible fans.
   

4. ASHA to Present 2026 'Annie Glenn Award' to 'The Pitt' (hearingreview.com) — ASHA will bring its 2026 Annie Glenn Award ceremony to the Indianapolis Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium this November, honoring the Max medical drama "The Pitt" for its portrayal of communication access in health care. Local clinicians and students can expect thousands of speech-language and audiology professionals in town as the national association highlights how communication barriers and social determinants of health affect patient care.
   

5. Governor's office pledges help to decrease backlog at Indiana Public Access Counselor's office (wthr.com) — State officials meeting in Indianapolis say they're finally adding staff and new procedures to tackle a massive backlog of public records complaints that's frustrated journalists and residents across Indiana. The governor's office and Public Access Counselor promise faster advisory opinions, weekly backlog updates, and more mediation to help Hoosiers get timely information about their government.
