Man thrown out of Indianapolis City County Council meeting files tort claim (fox59.com) — A man removed from an Indianapolis City-County Council committee meeting on Sept. 9 has filed a tort claim against the Marion County Sheriff's Office, alleging excessive force and a back injury. The disruption came during protests over IMPD's proposed 2027 budget and the police shooting of Dalys Jett, raising fresh questions about crowd control and accountability at local government meetings.
   

2. Youth mentor warns of ripple effects from teen shootings (wishtv.com) — Indianapolis teens have been hurt and killed in recent shootings, prompting a local mentor and police to urge parents to get more involved and secure guns. Youth advocate Aaron Green, whose group Struggle University supports traumatized teens, says resources like free gun locks, mental health help, and early grief support are critical to breaking the cycle of violence.
   

3. IMPD Officer and Deaf Boy Inspire Others with ASL (wibc.com) — An Indianapolis IMPD officer and a deaf boy, Mark Braster, reunited after their American Sign Language exchange at a Colts game went viral, inspiring millions of viewers. Mark and his mom surprised the officer at IMPD's North District, encouraging more local officers to learn basic ASL so deaf residents across Indianapolis feel safer, seen, and better understood.

Ford and Republican incumbent Victoria Spartz this November. 5. Buc-ee's is coming! Greenwood council approves plans for Indiana's first location of popular travel center (wthr.com) — Greenwood has approved an $85 million Buc-ee's travel center just off I-65, bringing Indiana's first location within easy driving distance of Indianapolis. The massive complex will feature 120 gas pumps, EV chargers, a 74,000-square-foot store, and new walking trail connections, giving southside and metro residents a new road-trip stop much closer than Ohio or Kentucky.
