The new 4‑million‑gallon tank should reduce backups, maintenance costs, and environmental risks while allowing for future expansion. Construction is underway now and is expected to be finished in 2028.

2. Dog alerts Newburgh family of early morning fire (pdclarion.com) — A Newburgh family escaped a garage fire safely after their dog woke them early Sunday morning, giving them time to call 911 and get out. Ohio Township firefighters, Newburgh Police, and Warrick County deputies quickly contained the blaze to the garage and stayed for hours to ventilate and secure the home. The cause is still under investigation.

Destroyed traffic lights cause heavy traffic on Newburgh road (tristatehomepage.com) — Traffic is flowing normally again at Newburgh’s busy State Roads 66 and 261 intersection after three damaged traffic lights caused long backups Thursday morning. Deputies directed vehicles while INDOT crews replaced the signals. Investigators are still reviewing security footage to determine whether a vehicle crash, severe weather, or something else caused the damage.

New historic marker placed in Newburgh (pdclarion.com) — A new historic marker now honors the Ideal Pleasure Club neighborhood along the Ohio River on Newburgh’s west side, once a summer escape for Evansville’s elite. Installed by the Women’s Club of Newburgh, it joins 77 other markers guiding residents and visitors through local history. 5. Meet Torvi! The Warrick Humane Society Pet of the Week (wkdq.com) — If you’re looking to adopt in Newburgh, Torvi—a 2‑year‑old German Shepherd mix—has been fully vetted, spayed, and is ready to go home from the Warrick Humane Society. The no‑kill Newburgh shelter relies on community support and is open Wednesday through Sunday for meet-and-greets. Applications are processed in order, so interested families should apply online soon.
