1. New principal named at Vigo Elementary (suncommercial.com) — Vigo Elementary in Vincennes will start the next school year with Lincoln High School assistant principal Bryce Crane stepping in as principal, succeeding retiring leader Jill Staggs. School officials praise Crane’s relationship-building skills and note he’s also a Vigo parent, while highlighting Staggs’ caring leadership and decision to retire to spend more time with her grandchildren.

2. City announces change to yard waste collection policy (suncommercial.com) — Vincennes residents now must keep yard waste separate from regular trash, as bagged yard debris with trash stickers will no longer be collected as household garbage. The Street Department will still pick up yard waste, but only by scheduled appointment, and says the change comes from the city’s waste disposal provider to ensure proper handling.

3. Water Utilities Service Board provides mid-year projects update (suncommercial.com) — Vincennes water officials report strong progress on more than 30 utility projects, including water and sewer main extensions in the Industrial Park and new monitoring connections at lift stations and the wastewater plant. The board also approved a joint resolution allowing limited encroachments for the Broadway Place development and reminds residents it meets monthly at the drinking water plant.

5. ISP disrupts out-of-state ‘drug pipeline' to Vincennes during southern Indiana operations (wane.com) — Indiana State Police say they’ve disrupted a narcotics pipeline running from Phoenix directly to Vincennes, part of broader 2026 operations across southern Indiana. Troopers report 84 arrests, over 48 pounds of meth seized, and more than two dozen firearms taken, with Governor Mike Braun praising the results as major public safety gains.
