Hydroponic Workshop Offers Hands-on Learning (indianaagconnection.com) — Residents interested in modern growing methods can join a hands-on hydroponic workshop at Purdue's Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Greenhouse in West Lafayette on September 19. Running 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., it offers expert instruction, live system demonstrations, lunch, snacks, and free parking, with tips useful for home gardeners, students, and commercial growers alike.
   

2. Flock cameras, New Chauncey plan spark debate in West Lafayette (jconline.com) — West Lafayette residents are being asked to weigh in on police use of Flock automated license plate reader cameras and an update to the New Chauncey Neighborhood Plan, both debated at the latest City Council meeting. Police Chief Adam Ferguson will host a public meeting Sept. 22 at city hall to discuss ALPR safeguards, while neighbors question how updated neighborhood data might affect housing, redevelopment, and parking pressures near Purdue.
   

3. West Lafayette woman arrested for alleged drug possession after high-speed chase (purdueexponent.org) — A high-speed police pursuit that raced along Sagamore Parkway and through West Lafayette ended with the arrest of a 38-year-old woman last Friday. Officers say speeds reached about 100 mph before stop sticks disabled the car, and a search reportedly uncovered meth, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia, leading to multiple felony drug and resisting charges.
   

4. Vape cartridges stolen in 2 weekend crimes, one with a sledgehammer (jconline.com) — Two overnight thefts of vape cartridges in West Lafayette, including one where a robber threatened a clerk with a sledgehammer at the Marathon Friendly Market on Sagamore Parkway, have police looking for tips. About 24 hours later, a nearby Smoke Time tobacco store on U.S. 52 W. was burglarized for more vape products, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department or We-Tip hotline.
   

5. Purdue value proposition continues to drive strong demand, undergrad enrollment increases (purdue.edu) — Purdue's West Lafayette campus is seeing a 13% jump in its freshman class and more than 43,000 undergraduates overall, continuing strong demand driven partly by a long-running tuition freeze. For West Lafayette residents, that growth means fuller classrooms and more pressure on housing, with the new South Hall and 3rd & West complex adding 1,900 beds as graduation and retention rates also climb to record levels.
