4. Diesel Prices Surge as Harvest Fuel Costs Climb (rfdtv.com subscription) — From Ankeny, farm analysts are warning that diesel prices near $6 a gallon are squeezing harvest budgets for Iowa producers, including those hauling grain through our area. Higher fuel and transportation surcharges are often passed back to farmers through weaker basis and lower prices, eroding some of the gains from stronger commodity markets this fall.
   

5. Perry Police find dead infant inside daycare center trash bag (who13.com) — An infant was found deceased in a trash bag at a Perry daycare, and the body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's office in Ankeny for autopsy.
