• Burst pipe floods Des Moines Public Schools' central nutrition center (who13.com) — A burst fire sprinkler pipe flooded Des Moines Public Schools' Central Nutrition Center, but district officials say students will still receive free meals while cleanup and repairs are underway. Families may notice temporary menu substitutions or fewer entrée choices, and are urged to check Nutrislice on the DMPS website for updates as the district coordinates with state and local officials.
   

• Des Moines drag king Trade to compete on TV show 'King of Drag' (desmoinesregister.com subscription) — A Des Moines-based drag king known as Trade, who performs regularly at The Blazing Saddle in the East Village, is heading to TV as a contestant on the new season of "King of Drag." The show, streaming free on Revry starting Sept. 20, will spotlight his playful, body-positive performances and could boost visibility for Des Moines' drag scene nationwide.
