First elected in 2010, he served in the legislature, led the Consumer Protection Office, raised Charolais cattle in Warren County, and was remembered by leaders of both parties for his service and dedication.
   

• Simpson Softball Finishes Third in Final NFCA Coaches Poll (kniakrls.com) — Simpson College softball capped a historic season by finishing third in the final NFCA coaches poll after a run to the Women’s College World Series. The Storm won the Indianola Regional, then advanced through the Winona Super Regional before dramatic wins in Salem secured their top‑three national ranking and a major point of pride for Indianola fans.
   

• Tornado confirmed in Decatur County, causing damage in Garden Grove (kcci.com) — Severe storms that spawned tornadoes in Decatur and Wayne counties also drenched Indianola and downtown Des Moines Wednesday evening, bringing heavy rain but no major local damage. A confirmed tornado damaged buildings in Garden Grove, flooding closed roads in Lucas County, and spotters tracked the storm from Missouri into southern Iowa as it swept across the region.
