From the Oracles of Iowa City murals to downtown DJ sets and student clubs, locals describe how the city's creative community helps them "find their people" and feel free to express themselves.
   

2. Young Eagles offers free flights for Iowa City youth Sept. 26 (kwwl.com) — Families in Iowa City can sign up kids ages 8 to 17 for free introductory flights with volunteer pilots at the Iowa City Municipal Airport on Sept. 26. The Young Eagles program runs from 9 a.m. to noon, includes a 15–20 minute flight, and offers chances to learn about aviation careers and safety, with advance online registration required.
   

3. Vigil held for Brian Vincent after hit-and-run charges filed (kcrg.com) — Family and friends gathered outside Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City to hold a candlelight vigil for 40-year-old Brian Vincent, weeks after he was critically injured in a hit-and-run. Standing under the lights of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, his father said Brian has begun speaking in short phrases, and the community's support is helping them stay hopeful about his uncertain recovery.
   

5. DCI investigating Iowa City officer-involved shooting (1630kcjj.com) — An officer-involved shooting in Iowa City on Tuesday left a person dead after police responded to a report of someone threatening others with a knife on Southgate Avenue. State investigators are reviewing the incident, the involved officers are on administrative leave, and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
