1. O'Donnell Resigns, Blames Ottumwa City Council for "Unhealthy" Work Environment (ottumwaradio.com) — Ottumwa’s finance director, Cole O’Donnell, is resigning effective June 19, saying the current City Council has created an unhealthy work environment and low staff morale. He’s taking a new finance director role in Marshalltown, and council members did not respond to requests for comment at publication time. 
2. Man killed by U.S. Marshal during arrest attempt in Ottumwa, DCI investigates (who13.com) — A man was shot and killed by a U.S. Marshal during a warrant arrest attempt Wednesday on the 500 block of North Green Street in Ottumwa, and state investigators are now reviewing what happened. The Iowa DCI and Ottumwa Police will present their findings to county and state prosecutors, while the marshal involved is on administrative leave and no officers were injured.
3. Terry Abel (ottumwaradio.com) — Ottumwa is mourning the death of 63-year-old Terry Lee Abel, a lifelong resident who recently passed away at home on June 9. Known for his work at the University of Iowa, his flooring business, and later cosmetology in Ottumwa, he leaves behind a daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, and many extended family members; cremation has occurred and no services are planned.
4. 6-10-26 Iowa HS Softball Rankings (kiwaradio.com) — Iowa’s latest high school softball rankings are out, and Ottumwa’s Class 5A team has dropped out of the top 15 after previously being ranked 11th. The list details updated standings for all five classes, highlighting which programs are climbing, which are slipping, and who has fallen from the rankings statewide.
