• Chanute hospital receives federal funds (iolaregister.com subscription) — Chanute’s Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center is set to receive nearly $1.9 million in federal funding to upgrade imaging equipment and build a new Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center. Local patients could soon see improved emergency care, women’s health imaging, and expanded rehab services, helping more southeast Kansas residents stay close to home for advanced treatment.

• Dragon softball grabs six all-league selections (morningsun.net) — Chanute softball players earned multiple all-league honors in the Southeast Kansas League, with Brynna Peter and Mylee Miller on the first team, Jayla Dunivin and Aly Splechter on the second team, and Laney Holtzman receiving honorable mention. Pittsburg shared the league title with Fort Scott, but Chanute athletes’ recognition underscores the strength of local high school softball.
