📰 News we're reading
• Western Kansas data center project might use less water than farming (ljworld.com) — A proposed Triple Oak Power data center complex on 6,000 acres near Garden City would use far less water than current irrigation, but has stirred strong local debate over aquifer impacts, dust, noise, and transparency. Finney County has approved a key special use permit, and backers tout tax revenue and jobs, while nearby residents question long-term environmental risks and oversight.

• State agencies and Private Businesses Unite Services for World Elder Abuse Awareness Month (sentineltimes.com) — Garden City seniors and caregivers will soon have access to a state-led workshop on spotting and preventing financial fraud and elder abuse, as part of a six-city Kansas tour this June. Multiple state agencies and banks are teaming up to explain powers of attorney, scams, and exploitation, with both in-person sessions and a virtual option available for those who can’t travel.
