• Governor signs bill to expand health coverage for children (sabethaherald.com) — Kansas has just expanded children’s health coverage through a bipartisan update to the state’s CHIP income rules, a change that will benefit many Leavenworth families. Among several other bills, lawmakers also approved a measure allowing the state to transfer a 57-acre parcel in Leavenworth County to the county itself, potentially shaping future local land use and development decisions.
   

• Three North Platte High School seniors sign to play college athletics (kq2.com) — A North Platte High School lineman is heading to play football for the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth joining the Spires program as a potential tackle and long snapper. Two of his classmates also signed to continue their athletic careers, capping a strong run for their small-town Missouri team and highlighting the opportunities drawing student-athletes to nearby Kansas colleges.
