Former Leawood priest allegedly stole $160K from church for cruises, casino and clothes (kansascity.com) — Parishioners at Curé of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood are learning more about allegations that their former pastor diverted roughly $160,000 in church funds toward cruises, travel, medical costs and retail purchases between 2021 and 2025. Court records describe a Leawood police investigation, an extensive archdiocesan audit, and a felony theft charge; the priest has pleaded not guilty and awaits a July 15 court date.
   

2. FBI arrests three American men for allegedly helping ISIS (audacy.com) — A 21-year-old Leawood resident is among three men now in federal custody, accused of sending cryptocurrency they believed would help ISIS buy explosive drones and bombs. Prosecutors say the group provided just over $2,000 and discussed violent attacks on U.S. service members. All three are being held as the case proceeds in federal court in Kansas.

4. Johnson County's FIFA World Cup shuttle is now accepting riders (kctv5.com) — Leawood residents now have access to the new Johnson County United Link shuttle, connecting the city with six other Johnson County communities and Oak Park Mall during the FIFA World Cup. The service ties into special ConnectKC26 routes to stadium events, runs about every 20–25 minutes through July 13, and offers an additional free airport shuttle to Lenexa City Center and Overland Park Convention Center.
