1. ‘This is the place to be,' Pitch Lenexa ready to kick off first World Cup watch party Friday (kshb.com) — Lenexa City Center’s green space is turning into a major World Cup watch party zone starting Friday, with big screens, a family fun area, beer garden and food trucks. Expect fencing and some road closures near City Center Drive and Hampton Street as Pitch Lenexa hosts three evening watch parties through mid-July.

2. Johnson County's FIFA World Cup shuttle is now accepting riders (kctv5.com) — Lenexa residents can now ride a special Johnson County United Link shuttle that connects Lenexa and six other cities to World Cup transit lines and regional attractions. The county is also running a free airport shuttle directly between Kansas City International Airport and Lenexa City Center, with buses every 20–25 minutes through July 13.

Red Cross in urgent need for blood donors, where you can donate in June (fox4kc.com) — Lenexa residents are urgently needed to donate blood or platelets as the Red Cross reports a troubling drop in scheduled donations heading into summer. Local drives across the metro, including in Lenexa and nearby Johnson County cities, offer appointments through June 28, with donors receiving a $15 e-gift card and entry into a $7,500 gift card drawing.

Lenexa man charged with trying to traffic minor across state line for sex (fox4kc.com) — A 47-year-old Lenexa resident has been charged in federal court after allegedly arranging online to pay for sex with someone he believed was a 15-year-old. Investigators say he was arrested at a hotel where he thought he’d meet the minor, following a sting involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

5. James Tinsley (johnsoncountypost.com) — Lenexa readers may recognize James “Jim” Tinsley from his years serving with the Lenexa Police Department early in his career. The longtime law enforcement officer and car enthusiast later worked in logistics, built a large blended family, and became a beloved neighbor known for his garage “man cave” gatherings before passing away June 7 at age 81.
