• ‘That's the heart of our city' — Merriam residents push back against 2 plans that would reshape downtown (ransonfinancial.com) — Major flood-control proposals for Turkey Creek could reshape downtown Merriam, including removing up to 17 buildings and replacing the Merriam and Johnson Drive bridges. The city hasn’t yet signed onto the Army Corps plan and is weighing a private alternative that would demolish all of historic downtown while also crafting a new downtown master redevelopment plan.
   

• Red Cross in urgent need for blood donors, where you can donate in June (fox4kc.com) — Merriam residents are being urged to donate blood or platelets as the Red Cross faces an alarming drop in appointments heading into summer. You can schedule a June donation at nearby drives, including in Merriam and surrounding Johnson County cities, and donors through June 28 receive a $15 e-gift card and a chance at larger prizes.
   

• Johnson County's FIFA World Cup shuttle is now accepting riders (kctv5.com) — Merriam residents can now ride the Johnson County United Link shuttle, which connects Merriam with six nearby cities and key World Cup transit lines through July 13. Buses run about every 20–25 minutes, all three routes meet at Oak Park Mall, and riders can transfer to stadium and regional attraction services using the same fare structure as ConnectKC26.
