• How an Overland Park neighborhood saved hundreds of trees from a killer pest (kcur.org) — In southern Overland Park's Park at Forest Green neighborhood, residents have spent about $16,000 every two years to treat ash trees and avoid the mass removals seen elsewhere in the city. Their efforts preserved roughly half of Overland Park's remaining healthy ash trees, influenced city policy on removals and replacements, and earned a Canopy Street of Excellence award.

Masterson countered with promises of aggressive pro-business policies, school vouchers, and support for data centers, while both sparred over abortion rights, transgender issues, and whose tax plan really helps working Kansans.
