• Salina city worker dies after lawnmower falls into river (salina.com) — A City of Salina employee died after a zero‑turn lawnmower went into the river at Oakdale Park just before noon on August 4. Salina police pulled the worker from the water, firefighters attempted lifesaving measures, and the person was later pronounced dead at Salina Regional Health Center as the city offers condolences to those affected. 
• Rebate program for poor water quality in Salina begins (salina.com) — Salina utility customers dealing with rusty or discolored tap water can now apply for a city rebate of up to $750 toward in‑home filtration systems. The new policy also formalizes how to report problems, as the city accelerates replacement of older iron water lines while maintaining that overall water quality meets state and federal health standards.
• Salina Central production recognized at national theater fest (salina.com) — Salina Central High School’s Thespian Troupe 639 earned a coveted performance slot for its production of “Clue (High School Edition)” at the 2026 International Thespian Festival. Several Central students also brought home top individual Thespy awards, including a perfect-score musical theatre performance, underscoring the strength of Salina’s theater program on a national stage.
