📰 News we're reading

• Driver Flees Following Pursuit (ksal.com) — Police are looking for a driver who ditched a car after a pursuit that wound through several Salina streets Wednesday afternoon, starting near 13th and Grand. Officers ended the chase near Kenwood and Front for safety, later finding the Hyundai Veloster abandoned on Anderson. The vehicle was impounded and the investigation continues.

• Boil Water Advisory For Portion of District (ksal.com) — Residents south of Watkins Road in Saline County’s Rural Water District No. 4 should boil tap water for one minute before drinking or cooking until further notice. KDHE issued the advisory June 10 after a loss of pressure raised concerns about possible bacterial contamination, and only the agency can lift it once lab tests confirm the water is safe again.

• Kansas political battles await after 5 Republicans decline to seek reelection to Board of Education (hppr.org) — A shakeup on the Kansas Board of Education means Salina’s Ann Zimmerman, a local school board member and mediator, will face no primary opponent in the central Kansas Seventh District. She and Abilene’s Alana McWilliams highlight issues like reading proficiency and graduation rates, while other districts see crowded, often sharply contrasting races that could shift the board’s partisan balance.
