• Johnson County's FIFA World Cup shuttle is now accepting riders (kctv5.com) — Shawnee residents can now ride the new Johnson County United Link shuttle, which connects Shawnee with six other cities and links to special World Cup transit lines into Kansas City. Buses run about every 20–25 minutes through July 13, overlapping at Oak Park Mall and even tying into a free airport shuttle. Officials urge riders to plan ahead because parking at stops is limited. 
• Best Splash Pads and Ice Cream Stops in Kansas City (kcparent.com) — Families in Shawnee can cool off at Erfurt Park and Wilder Bluff Park splash pads, each paired with a nearby ice cream shop for an easy summer outing. • Donald Keith Pflumm (johnsoncountypost.com) — Shawnee is mourning the loss of longtime resident and Shawnee Mission Builders owner Donald Keith Pflumm, who grew up here and graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest. His life will be celebrated Saturday, June 13, at Amos Family Funeral Home on Johnson Drive in Shawnee, with visitation and services followed by burial in Overland Park.
